DUTY CYCLES

In normal day to day service, the typical calculation for fixed station usage is 90-5-5, which means 90% standby, 5% transmit, 5% receive. In an emergency or power lost situation, the 90-5-5 guideline may mean very little. Repeaters may go to 100% duty, trunked systems may operate at maximum capacity, and everybody is paging someone, somewhere. Fixed dispatch station usage may run as high as 50% transmit, 50% receive, with no standby. The table listed below will give some idea of what may be required.
